The Variegated lilyturf is exceptionally versatile and will thrive in full sunlight to shady locations. The edging plant prefers rich, moist, and slightly acidic soil, but will adapt to a wide variety of soil types. Keep moist but well drained soil conditions preferably for variegated liriope care.
This ground cover plant grows in clump forming masses and its root system will spread. Water thoroughly the first year to establish a strong root system. After establishing, the plant is fairly drought tolerant. A slow-release fertilizer applied every year in early spring will help boost growth.
The liriope muscari’s grass-like foliage grows up to 1.5 feet tall and 2 feet wide. Do not plant in the full afternoon sun when the temperature is hottest. This variegated lily turf plant prefers partial shade to full shade in the afternoon. Divide the established plants in early spring.
Not the most cold hardy for northern states. Does best in the warmer climates of the United States in USDA growing zones 6-11.
